Reiki is a Japanese term for “Universal Life Force,” or the energy that enlivens all living things. It comes from the words Rei, meaning Universal Life, and ki meaning energy.
This energy underlies your body’s inherent, innate intelligence, and works with your body to keep you alive and thriving. It is present within the biological systems that tell your lungs to breathe, and your heart to beat – without you having to remember to perform these actions, or even be consciously aware of them.
As a Reiki practitioner, I interact with your Universal Life Force to encourage and help restore optimal balance and health in your body. I do this using gentle, non-invasive, hands-on touch to connect and interact with your energy to effect a reset or re-activation, like jumper cables re-charging a car battery, or tuning a piano so that it plays on key.
As the client, you remain fully clothed during the session, and have nothing to do except be present and available to notice any sensations, specific thoughts or memories, or changes in your body that you may experience. Many clients experience a deep state of relaxation, while others feel energized and refreshed. Each Reiki session is personal to the individual client, and we will talk about your experience afterwards.
